Summary

Jay is the only person who was born in his own country between his brother and sister. Graduated from University of Indonesia majoring in Political Science and also an alumnus of Abang None Jakarta Selatan 2017. He is already in love about German-related things before he even moved to Austria and be able to speak the language. A diplomat wannabe because you never should give up on your own dreams.

Motivation

After living in several countries, Jay realized that learning new languages is important to communicate with foreign people and to have more friends to talk with. As he grew older, to have more friends is not the only reason why people should learn a new language, but also to compete in an international level. One interesting fact that Jay know about learning new language is that speaking a foreign language will change your personality. Learn a new language and get a new soul.

Biography

Jay was born in Jakarta on 1993 and raised in a Batak Karo family. Having a father as a diplomat made him spent a third of his life in Europe (4 years in Slovakia and 4 years in Austria). He started his education in International School of Bratislava QSI and moved back to Jakarta in 1998 where he continued his education in St. Antonius Elementary School. In 2002 he moved back to Europe and Austria was the next destination. Since then he started to learn German and became interested in learning other foreign language, started by taking Spanish class in his last 6 months in Austria. As his father moved to the last destination before retirement as a diplomat in Croatia, Jay stayed in Jakarta to start and finish his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Indonesia University with a thesis about Germany as he has a high interest in it. During his university years, he was active in Political Science Students Association University of Indonesia and also in Futsal Community as it is one of his hobbies. He was chosen as the Best Goalkeeper Rookie Futsal Championship (RFC) UI in 2011 held by his faculty. After graduated in 2016, he signed up and selected as the Abang None Jakarta Selatan Youth & Tourism Ambassador 2017 where he learned about the cultural heritage and tourism of Jakarta. He became active in preserving Betawi culture and organizing several social events. Currently Jay is working for a private bank and also a part time German private teacher. He joined Polyglot Indonesia in 2017 as informed by his friend and became German contributor after several meetups.
