Motivation

"Worked in multinational companies, studied and lived in different countries, and travelled to lots of places, all those things realized me that foreign languages is something that you really need to have in your skills, not only as a passion, but also for brigther education and career. That's the reason why I joined to Polyglot Indonesia, to learn and broaden my knowledge about languages while share my experiences at the same time."

Biography

Jenny was born in Ujung Pandang in a multicultural family; her father is Indonesian-Dutch and her mother is Buginese. Her language journey began when she was about 10 years old, as her father started teaching her Dutch, besides the (lucky) fact that her parents divorced and her mother married with a man who worked as a French interpreter. Jenny grew up among her father's family with a unique habit: speak English-Dutch-Ambonese at the same time. Her passion for history about USSR made her started thinking about learning Russian Literature after graduating from high school. Unfortunately, as her mother's family is such an 'engineering-dynasty', she ended up at engineering school instead, majoring in Industrial Engineering.

After graduated from Universitas Hasanuddin, she moved to Tembagapura and worked in the mining area. She started traveling abroad often, the one that made her dying to see about the world and learning more languages at the same time. While most of her friends continued their master in Australia and the UK, she decided to leave her career and pursue her master degree in EM Logistics and Supply Chain Management, just simply because she didn't want to live in English-speaking countries, which brought her to live in Spain, Latvia, Turkish, and Germany, that successfully broaden her knowledge about foreign languages. Now she has been to 49 countries (and still counting!); speaks Indonesian, English, Spanish, (a bit of) Dutch; and currently learning French, Russian, German, and Portuguese.

Living far from homeland doesn't mean she stops giving a contribution to Indonesian. She currently roles Vice Coordinator of PPI Dunia Kawasan Amerika Eropa 2018/2019. Her passion in writing also made her as one of the authors of the best-selling book 'Soul Travellers: Turning Miles Into Memories' (yeah she also plans to release her own but way too lazy to finish the draft). Sometimes she likes to share tips and motivation about self-learning languages through her Instagram @mypassporttoparadise.
