Biography

Arie grew up in Bekasi, the third most populous city in Indonesia, behind Jakarta and Surabaya, and also one of the oldest cities in Indonesia (Bekasi has a history of being the capital city of the Kingdom of Tarumanagara). She spent almost her entire life there. Her first hand experience with foreign language was at elementary school with English as a mandatory subject. She found herself fascinated with learning  language. It was not until 1999 when she was interested in Italian language after watching Serie A Liga Italia. She felt like she was in trance while listening to the commentators. At that time, mostly her Italian vocabularies are limited to football theme. In 2008, she learned Italian language at Istituto Italiano di Cultura and she fell in love more with Italy, with both its language and culture. Around 2009-2010, she tried to learn another languages, Dutch and Russian this time, pure out of curiosity. She took a class in Erasmus Taalcentrum and Russian Center for Science and Culture respectively. Her love of foreign language has landed her here in Polyglot Indonesia.
