Dear Jakarta Language Enthusiasts,

The year of 2020 has been declared as International Year of Plant Health by the United Nations’ General Assembly and carried out by Food and Agriculture Organization as an effort to recognizing that sustaining plant health protects the environment, forests, and biodiversity from plant pests, addresses the effect of climate change, and support efforts to end hunger, malnutrition, and poverty and boost economic development, and that the protection of plant health from pests is a key factor in strategies to eliminate hunger and rural poverty.
One of the major problems of plant health is pest and disease, which is exacerbated by the practice of monoculture and could be diminished by the practice of polyculture.
The widespread practice of monoculture happened because of the high demand from consumer for a certain product that must be met.
According to the report of World Wide Fund for Nature and Knorr Foods, 75% of the food we consume comes from just 12 plant and 3 animal sources. Out of 12, 3 crops – wheat, corn, and rice – make up nearly 60% of the plant-based calories in most diets.
As a consumer, our end of the bargain to lessen this problem is to change our eating habits and diversify our diet.

In collaboration with Zywielab and ISAGI (Ikatan Sarjana Gizi Indonesia), we would like to invite you to join our first of six Language Exchange Meetup to talk about diversifying your diet.
Come and join us!
