Around the World: Thailand, Land of Smiles
PIJakThailand.jpg

Dear Jakarta Language Enthusiasts,

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destination for Indonesians in southeast Asia region.
Many of us have been visiting Thailand for various reasons, be it culinary, shopping, natural landscape, or even nightlife.
It might be safe to assume that most of us know or have heard about Chatuchak weekend market, Khaosan road, Wat Arun temple, or Wat Pho temple.
Or if you are more interested in natural landscape, you might have visited or seen several photos of Krabi, Koh Samui, Phi Phi islands, or Phuket.

But other than that, what else do you know about Thailand?
Do you know that the Chakri dynasty, the current ruling Thai royal family, has been on the throne since the early 18th century?
Or that just like Indonesia, Thailand has many different regional languages?
Or that Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia that has never been occupied by European powers?

In the third Polyglot Indonesia Jakarta Chapter's Around the World meetup series, we would like to invite you to learn more about Thai culture!
We will also have with with us a native Thai speaker who have been living in Indonesia for five years to teach us simple and useful Thai language phrases and words!

Come and join us!
