One day, there lived a boy named Sandy. He was very energetic, humble and poetic little man. He was known as the Batu Kerikil-Man on the polyglot National Gathering 2015 as his comment reflected to the philospohy of a very wise Batu Kerikil (English: Peeble Stones). He was a happy boy who seek true happiness in learning language. He was an active member of Polyglot Indonesia Chapter of Semarang.

Polyglot Indonesia Chapter of Semarang held its monthly meet up on 25 of October 2015, with five tables on board. There were France, Italy, Japan, English and Turkey. There were around 21 people coming to the day’s agenda. Coming from a far with a bike, Sandy. With all his spirit and curiosity of learning language, step himself on French table. The day’s theme was to Myth and Legend. Each table had to perform a famous play/story coming from the respective country.

With Sandy, French table was so strong they fear no challange given by other table. “Ok Guys, we going to choose our story. Anyone got Idea?” Said one of the member.

“I think we could go with Napoleon Bonaparte things, guys?” Said the other

“We know something about him, yes, but it is going to be very complicated play I guess.”

Cluntching his teeth, Sandy thought about the play he used to do, back in his theatre class and he said “Do you know the movie UP? The Old Granpa with the ballon house? It was going to be very easy and everyone will enjoy it”

Everyone was amazed by his idea, eyes opened wide towards his brilliant mind. The wind blew strong made his hair move aside, as in the cowboy movie. It was the longest three second the entire galaxy, until clapped to amazement. They prepared the performance right away.

In the Turkey table, there were only two people. They were silently plotting the best performace, like the one we saw on TV, cinta di musim... oh.. Nevermind. The Italian table had three people, who will performed Romeo and Juliet: The new level. English table will present Indonesia Folklore delivered in English. In Japanese table, the most wanted table so far, there were around eight member who select The story of Lady Kaguya as the story. In this table, there was someone who was very capable on doing theatrical perfomances. His eyes gazing to the horizon collecting all souls and sounds of the wind. He closed his eyes for a while and .... he fell asleep.

Time’s up! Today PIC called all the participant to come before the stage. Everybody was so nervous, not really, maybe some. Anyway, the first performance was brought to you by France Table. Cheers and applauses came no less than El Clasico Match as Sandy with pride. In his hand a script of what he is going to perform. Everybody watched him so intensely when they started the play. It was fun, inspiring and touching at the same time. There was no doubt in his legendary nick name The Batu Kerikil-man. When he and his companion in France table were done, everyone cheered once more. They bow gloriously to close the session.

Come next up the italian table, where Romeo is a girly boy and Juliet is manly girl and they fought like gladiators. This was total madness that everyone love. After that there was performance from English table. This table was the most unique table of the day. Mixed culture from Java, delivered in English was very beautiful combination indeed. Turkey table came next. The performance was very different as there were several language classes in the performance. The interaction with audience made this play similar to those in Opera House. Thank you, Turkey table, as you at least give us some lessons on the day.

The last table to perform was Japan. They were ready and quickly set themselves in the position. The play was so slow, so soft and fullfy, we’re going to die. We were very pleased by the performance. There were Lady Kaguya who was born from a bamboo tree. She was proposed by a prince, but the she rejected her. The prince fell to his agony and turned himself into famous Mount Fuji. It was such an amazing performance.

That was the end of the meet up. And they lived happily ever after.
